G.A.S. LAGOS

Our Lagos location focuses on the arts, design, curatorial practice and research in one of the most enterprising cities in the world. The Foundation is hosted in an award-winning building in Oniru, designed by Ghanian British architect Elsie Owusu in collaboration with Nigerian architect Nihinlola Shonibare. The latter's practice, NS Design Consult, was additionally commissioned to execute the interior design concept and delivery.

The building houses a multifunctional studio and gallery space on the ground floor with accommodation and shared living space on the first floor for up to three artists-in-residence. The barrier-free design of the building ensures access for all our users and visitors.

G.A.S. FARM HOUSE, IKISE

Our second residency space, outside the village of Ikise near Ijebu Ode, is on a working farm just two hours from Lagos that will focus on trans-disciplinary craft, design, art and the environment, food sustainability and agriculture.

Designed by Papa Omotayo of MOE+ with interior design by Temitayo Shonibare the Farmhouse residency building sits on the lush 54-acre Ecology Green Farm, founded by Yinka Shonibare CBE RA in 2018, that produces crops ranging from cassava and cashew to peppers and maize. It offers a three-bed residency space for artists, designers, makers, scientists, agriculturists, ecologists and researchers in quiet and peaceful surroundings. Spring 2022 sees construction begin on an adjacent series of studio and workshop spaces dedicated to local craft.
